What is the best course in SHS?

Here are the major courses in SHS in Ghana:

1. BUSINESS
2. GENERAL ARTS
3. GENERAL SCIENCE
4. HOME SCIENCE (HOME ECONOMICS)
5. VISUAL ARTS
6. AGRIC SCIENCE
7. TECHNICAL SUBJECTS

The list of Courses in SHS/Technical and Vocational Institutes in Ghana has seen little or no change since the inception of the education reform a couple of years now. The reform that caused the duration of Senior High Schools being lengthened from three (3) years to four (4) years in the 2007/2008 academic year have little impact on the core curriculum and the specialized subjects being pursued under the different courses.

While the four-year duration of senior high school education has been uprightly abolished by the then Prof. Atta Mills administration in 2010, most SHS used academic strategies to introduce all the various subjects to students in the first year. Then offer courses and program selection guidance for students to choose their preferred courses in the second year.

At the SHS level, students will be expected to learn mandatory core subjects. These subjects are Mathematics, English, Integrated Science, and Social Studies.
Also, each student is required to offer four (4) elective subjects. The list of elective subjects depends entirely on the course chosen by the student.
For instance, a student who is pursuing Home Science (formerly Home Economics) may not be required to read Physics.
