Africa World Airline
Africa World Airlines’ commitment to transparency continues with the release of our operational performance numbers for the month of November 2021.
Request a copy of the text clarifying your rights, particularly in terms of compensation and assistance, at the check-in counter or boarding gate if you are denied boarding or your flight is cancelled or delayed for more than two hours.
On November 15th, 2010, Africa World Airlines was launched as a privately owned airline. It took off for the first time on September 21, 2012. The airline has been able to maintain profitability by increasing flight frequency and expanding its route network.
For a corporation that has only been in operation for seven years, this is a tremendous achievement. Africa World Airlines received IOSA accreditation and became a full member of IATA in 2017.
As part of our expansion as an airline, we have created agreements with a variety of international airlines, including South African Airways, Emirates, Brussels Airlines, ASKY Airlines, and Ethiopian Airlines. This will assist us in achieving our objective of connecting more travellers.
Over the years, AWA has received multiple “Domestic Airline of the Year,” “Best Airline in West Africa,” and “Best Passenger Experience” accolades from organizations such as the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIMG), Ghana Tourism Board, National Aviation Accolades, and others.
In 2019, AWA was inducted into the CIMG Hall of Fame after being named “Best Domestic Airline” for five years in a row and getting an Embraer award for data quality reliability.
Africa World Airlines serves five cities in Ghana: Accra, Kumasi, Tamale, and Takoradi. AWA also covers Lagos and Abuja in Nigeria, Monrovia in Liberia, and Freetown in Sierra Leone, with the purpose of connecting Africa to the rest of the globe.
According to its mission statement, the airline is on course to become Africa’s “top airline, providing world-class service.”
